[\[00:00\]](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZdtfqFmyD0&t=0s&ref=ghost.psymposia.com) So when a drug is rejected and the FDA will put something out called the complete response letter and it's referred to as CRL and the CRL it's a confidential document and so the FDA will send the sponsor the CL and within the CRL it'll outline the various things that they took into consideration why it failed essentially. So they issued that CRL last August a year ago 2024 August and maps who I it's maps likeos this is LOS okay so CRL comes out now nobody other than a couple insiders knew what was in the CRL why did FDA actually reject it there was this

[\[01:00\]](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZdtfqFmyD0&t=60s&ref=ghost.psymposia.com) Information vacuum that happened and basically all the \[expletive\] was thrown at us. They wanted it. They wanted to just pin the blame on us. This leftist \[expletive\] woke group and that's then that's it. Psymposia's activism across the years culminated in a campaign to get the MDMA assisted therapy application denied by the FDA. Nashe Devon and the organization that they run called Psymposia, you know, is widely believed to have played a role kind of in the failure of this application. We're sitting down with the illustrious Hamilton Morris, as you guys have seen, and we're going to discuss how and why a paid activist group called Psymposia successfully interfered with the FDA's plans to legalize MDMA.

[\[01:50\]](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZdtfqFmyD0&t=110s&ref=ghost.psymposia.com) Those are the people that stopped MDMA from being legal for use for PTSD therapy. It's almost inspiring if it weren't so horrible. So, historically, the CRL remains a confidential document that the public never gets to see what's actually in that. The Trump administration earlier this year, changed that internal policy and they started publishing, they started dumping CRLs from prior rejections. And then a couple months ago, I don't know what it was, two, three months ago at this point, they released the LIO CRL so everybody could see the exact reasons why FDA rejected it and 11 11 pages name isn't in it.

[\[02:38\]](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZdtfqFmyD0&t=158s&ref=ghost.psymposia.com) They took into consideration some of the things that that we had publicly said, but they also list three main reasons. And what were those three main reasons? The first one was failure to collect quote unquote positive adverse events, which people have framed as like, "Oh, come on. We know MDMA causes euphoria, blah, blah, blah." And my argument back to that is like, well, yeah, \[laughter\] they just wanted the data. you would have had a better chance at getting this passed if you had just collected the data that the FDA asked you to collect on this and they just decided not to do that. There was a lack of durability data. Like I don't I think they didn't have data past 18 months. So like the durability data of the therapy wasn't clear, which there's a lot of problem there's a lot of problems with the long-term follow-up studies.

[\[03:27\]](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZdtfqFmyD0&t=207s&ref=ghost.psymposia.com) It's a whole side issue. But yeah. Yeah. And then the third one was that this trial had a ridiculously high rate of prior MDMA use among participants, which and a really high rate of pre-screening failures. So like that's like pretty unheard of in a pharmaceutical drug trial that a bunch that 40% of participants would have tried the drug in the past, right? And not only that, they were pre-screening people and failing them based on a ton of criteria and recruiting from music festivals, conferences, on psychedelics. So like they were recruiting from a pool of people that were very motivated to get the more it's I mean it's worse than that. They were recruiting people who their therapist.

[\[04:16\]](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZdtfqFmyD0&t=256s&ref=ghost.psymposia.com) So, while MAPS was was doing a phase 3 clinical trial like above ground, a decent amount of their therapists were practicing MDMA therapy underground. I don't have any problem like underground stuff. Great. I used to operate in the underground. The reality is though that they were so a bunch of maps therapists while they're doing this professionally, they're also doing it on the side. I would give that advice if you are going to do this underground work. I'd say you can also probably do both underground work and above ground work at the same time. You just have to be really careful who you tell what. They so they have a range of patients. Some of those patients who are actually recruited into the clinical trial.

[\[05:01\]](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZdtfqFmyD0&t=301s&ref=ghost.psymposia.com) So, a lot of people who want to say ah it's no big deal that that their patients had prior MDMA use. It it's more detailed than that. It wasn't just prior MDMA use. It was prior MDMA use using this protocol with these therapists. It was designed to be rubber stamp because here's the thing. We're called, you know, anti-MDMA, anti veteran activists, which is the most insane thing I've ever heard. There's another group that's very much against this therapy. They're called Psymposia. Why do they not want veterans to have access to this treatment? I don't know. do not listen to these activist groups. My family is a veteran family for better or for worse.

[\[05:47\]](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZdtfqFmyD0&t=347s&ref=ghost.psymposia.com) Like it's ridiculous like and rather laughable that I'm anti-MDMA. However, like I am trained as a scientist. If you have a biased sampling pool, then your results are garbage, right? Yeah. If your experimental design is unblinded or has other forms of bias or you know like pre- disposition towards one result or another, what are we doing here? Like that's bad science.
